Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary :

Deccan Odyssey is the only luxury train in India which travels to the destinations of Maharashtra state, the erstwhile Maratha kingdom. Explore the Mumbai city, visit the Goa churches and beaches, and explore the Ajanta and Ellora caves and many more. Visit the temples and Ghats at Panchavati. On board enjoy your pastime engaged in any leisure activity.

Day 01 : Wednesday-Mumbai

Our tour representative will transfer you timely to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai. The staff welcomes you in an Indian style. The Train departs to Sindhundurg. On board dinner.

Day 02 : Thursday-Sindhudurg

On the second day of Deccan Odyssey Train tour itinerary, the train arrives at sindhudurg Nagari Railway station. An ac bus takes you to Malvan jetty. Take a boat ride to Sindhudurg Ocean Fort. This fort is an architectural marvel of the Maratha Empire. It was served as naval base of Maratha Empire. It is located on the Kurte Island. The fort has 9 meters high and 3 meters wide rampart with 42 bastions. 

Back to jetty and proceed to Tarkarli beach, a virgin beach located at the confluence of River Kali and Arabian Sea. Have lunch at a beach restaurant and have fun. Thereafter take the bus to Dhamapur village. Enroute visit the Cashew factory. Reaching Dhamapur village visit the old temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagawati.  

Return back to Kudal railway station and board the train. It leaves for Goa.

Day 03 : Friday-Goa

Deccan Odyssey reaches Karmali railway station in the early morning. After breakfast on board take the bus to Old Goa. Goa is the smallest state of India and it has been a Portuguese colony till 1961. Old Goa houses a few churches and Portuguese buildings. You will visit the site of St. Augustine Church once largest cathedral in Goa, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi. Also visit Fontanhas, the Latin quarters at Panjim.  

After Old Goa visit, proceed to Verne Railway Station to board the train. The rest of the time is for lunch on board. In the evening take the bus to beach hotel. Experience Goan culture and savor traditional Goan cuisine. Board the train from Madgaon railway station.

Day 4 : Saturday-Kolhapur

In the early morning Deccan Odyssey Train arrives at Kolhapur city. It is known as Karveer or Dakshin Kashi of Maharashtra. After breakfast on board take the bus to New Palace partly converted into a museum. The museum houses paintings and other artifacts used by the royal family. Explore Bahwani Mandap and the beautifully carved Mahalaxmi temple and Shalini palace made of intricately carved black stone and Italian Marble.  

Kolhapur is famous for its textiles and cottons, jewelry and leather sandals. You can purchase the stuffs from the stalls located at the palace. After sightseeing and shopping, board the train at Kolhapur railway station. Lunch and leisure time on board.

Day 05 : Sunday-Daulatabad-Ellora

Morning arrival at Daulatabad station. After having breakfast visit the majestic Daulatabad Fort stands 600 feet above the Deccan Plain. The early name of Daulatabad was Devgiri and it was an administrative hub of the Yadava rulers. When Mohammed Bin Tughlak took charge of it he renamed as Daulatabad or City of Fortune.  

Next take the drive to Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its cave temples which represent the faiths of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. The caves temples are Buddhist monasteries and Hindu and Jain temples. The Kailasha temple is an emblem of the monolithic architecture.  

Post lunch, visit the Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a replica of Taj Mahal. Then go on a shopping spree. In the evening board the train at Aurangabad railway station.

Day 06 : Monday-Chandrapur

Around noon the Train arrives at Chandrapur railway station. Board the bus to Tadoba which is home to the Tadoba-Andheri Tiger Reserve. It is a part of project tiger. The main attraction is royal Bengal tiger and other animals found here are Sambar, Gaur, Chinkara, Leopard cat, Pangolin, Panther, Spotted deer, Sloth bear, Chausinga, Nilgai, Barking deer, Indian bison, Wild dog, Hyena, Jackals, etc. It is also home to migratory birds.  

Set out jungle safari and explore the wildlife. In the evening return to the train. Dinner on board.  Deccan Odyssey leaves for Ajanta.

Day 07 : Tuesday-Ajanata-Nashik

Arrive at Bhusawal railway station. Take the bus ride to Ajanta Caves. It is a World Heritage Site known for its Buddhist caves. The caves date back to 2nd Century BC.  The caves houses aesthetic paintings. The murals and sculptures depict faiths of Buddhism.  

At noon board train at Jalgaon railway station. It leaves for Nashik. Lunch on-board. On arrival get off and take the bus to Panchavati Ghat, a holy Ghat. It is a site for the Kumbh Mela. Explore the Ghat and thereafter the old Kala Ram temple dedicated to Rama.  

Board the train at Deolali railway station. Farewell dinner is served on board.
